Yu Hui-fen, born in 1970, obtains M.A. degree at Institute of Anthropology
at National Tsing Hua University.
She initiated her theatre career and joined U-Theatre in 1990 where
she met her lifelong and significant partner Wang Rong-yu. During
her stay at U-Theatre she undertook Grotowski's training as well
as Taichi-Downing and many other traditional art forms. After her
fervent contact with these local arts like I-Jhen (the traditional
acrobatic troupe), I-shi (the traditional art master) and ritualistic
ceremonies, she conceived a vision for her life and sensed strength
from her culture.
She founded Golden Bough with Mr. Wang in 1993. At first she had
to be an actress, troupe personnel and manager. From 1995 to 2002
she was delegated to be the chief of the troupe. Currently she plays
an important role in the troupe as a executive director as well
as a producer and a playwright.
To date, she has adapted/co-adapted more than ten works, include:
"Happiness", "Troy, Troy...Taiwan 2005", "Yumay and TenLai",
"Romeo & Juliet", "Dice", "She is So
Lovely...", "Butterflies", "The Roof",
"121°E • 23.5°N", "Troy,
Troy...Taiwan", "Wading Through The ChoShui River", "Stop
the World". And she has produced 12 works, convened/invented/executed/
more than 200 productions.
